I just did an illustration for the Joystiq Podcast. It turned out really nice and I hope to keep doing more and offering them up as limited edition prints in the future.

The Monocleman Munny + Mini Orphans
These are some customized munny’s for a show at Robot Love. The theme was Retro Future, which just happens to coincide with the videogame I was working on. I’ll have some better pictures up on my Flickr when I get them back from the show.

Tradeshow Banners
Artwork for 3 tradeshow banners. Each banner is 31″ x 80″ and is pretty impressive when set up. I hope to have photos of the finished product soon.

Food images are scanned out of a bunch of moldy old copies of McCall’s. They had some pretty amazing photo spreads in those old magazines. Everything is shiny and super saturated:

Comics in Color
A quick color test for a personal project I’m working on with a friend:

I’ve spent the last few years constantly doing gray scale comics for work, but haven’t actually gotten anything of my own done. This is a hybrid of the new toning style I’m working on in the Battlestar book and the textural color work I’ve been exploring in my own art. I hope it will have more punch than straight black and white, without the full work load of color.

Some painting works in progress
Here’s some paintings I’m working on for an upcoming show. I plan on turning them into a set of prints to sell at conventions. There’s a few more in the works, but I don’t want to get to far ahead of myself.


Munny Chief rides again.
Here’s a bit more progress on the Munny Chief. I think I’ve got the shading style and outlining down, so now it’s just a matter of going through all the armor bits and detailing everything. 
Mustachio Strife Color Test
Here’s the color version of that last Mustachio sketch. I’m pretty sure I’ll use this style for any prints I make because I like the way the rough pencil contrasts with the smooth coloring. The original pencil art also looks really nice. I also want to try out Painter sometime soon to see how that compares. Next time I’ll draw him atop his awesome motorcycle, or perhaps battling some sort of long haired dinosaur guy.

Finally, a Bleached Blond Mustachio
He’s got amnesia and a mysterious past, and I’m not sure what power his sword is set up with. A pencil test for a color version. I’m going to get some practice in before I do the next comic cover, whic will be in a similar pencils-with-color style. 
Mustachio Commando
A quick sketch for a more elaborate drawing I’ve got planned out. The next version will incorporate soldiers underneath, and some sort of menacing figure looming in the background.

Deathbar Color test
I finished up the comic last week so I spent the weekend playing around in photoshop a bit. Here I was trying to see how some of the effects I’d been using in gray scale might translate to color. I think it turned out well. I’m still figuring out the best ways to add in texture to the color.

And here’s a closeup. I’m particularly happy with the way the gritty armor texture turned out.

Starcraft Characters
Here’s some sketches I did to try and line up some work on a Starcraft anthology. The editor really liked them, so hopefully the project will work out with my upcoming comic schedule. I think it will get my art in fronmt of a lot more people than my previous books.
